Dear friends, family and/or co-workers,
Due to incredible outcry from concerned citizens and over 50 organizations representing the environmental, recreational and First Nation communities the BC Ministry of Environment has ordered Aevitas Inc, who wants to build a hazardous waste recycling facility on the banks of the Fraser River, to conduct public consultations. The facility would be recycling materials such as mercury, PCB’s and transformer oils. As you are aware, these materials are very dangerous and need to be handled with the utmost care. A facility like this is much needed in the lower mainland; however, I am concerned about the location. Hazardous materials and fresh water do not mix, so building this facility on the banks of the world’s No. 1 salmon river seems reckless. Please take a moment to participate in the public consultation process to ensure the facility will not be built along the Fraser River.
Let’s take action and call for responsible siting of this facility to ensure the future of our waterways!
