Coquitlam SockeyeA female sockeye salmon arrived in the Coquitlam River and was successfully trapped and transported past the dam to Coquitlam Lake on August 6, 2013.  This transport project is being managed by Watershed Watch and the Kwikwetlem First Nation and is funded by BC Hydro.

This project is part of the longer term plan of the Kwikwetlem First Nation to restore the Coquitlam River and its sockeye population.  Kwikwetlem means “red fish up the river” after the red spawning colour of sockeye salmon.
