On June 16 Alex Morton received an honourary doctorate from Simon Fraser University in recognition of her science and conservation work around revealing the impacts of salmon farms on wild fish. Watershed Watch’s executive director Craig Orr joined several other guests on stage to honour Alex. Dr. Morton thanked the academic scientists at SFU, particularly statistician Rick Routledge, for assisting her on her work and helping her to get the message out that open net-cage aquaculture poses a risk to wild fish. Watershed Watch has also partnered with SFU on several workshops on salmon farm impacts through the SFU Speaking for the Salmon seminar series.

Alex Morton is richly deserving of the honour.
